What is Hospice ?
Hospice is not a place but rather a philosophy of care that focuses on fulfilling the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of those with a life-limiting illness. Hospice care is an option when a patient, along with his or her physician, and family, decide to no longer pursue curative treatments.
Hospice care is provided wherever the patient calls home – including a private residence, Adult Foster Care Home, senior or assisted living community or nursing home. Patients and caregiver routine, established relationships and daily life will not be disrupted.
Within Adult Foster Care Homes, senior or assisted living communities or nursing homes, Comfort Hospice preserves that security in the familiar by becoming a seamless extension of an existing on-site care team. Hospice care specialists anticipate and address the complex, physical, emotional and spiritual issues that can arise during this challenging time. Patients and their families are able to remain close to the caregivers known and cared for their loved one, and in addition benefiting from the extra experience, wisdom and specialized help of Comfort Hospice team members.
